3. Sharing of Personal Information

We share each of the categories of personal information described above in the following ways and with the following entities:

  • With Our Service Providers: DHC uses vendors and service providers to handle various parts of our business and transactions on our site due to their expertise, resources and/or infrastructure. We may share each category of personal information with vendors and service providers that help us with things like processing payments, providing online chats, providing analysis and recommendations for marketing campaigns, managing product reviews, sending emails and eblasts or to provide other consulting services. Our contracts specify that the contractors must also maintain the security and privacy of your information and use it only for the specific purposes of the contract.

  • With Business Partners and Other Marketers: We may share your Identifiers, Contact Information, Locations Information, and Purchase Information with other merchants, co-operatives, and merchant exchanges. Other merchants may, in turn, use this information to send you offers for their products and services. If you don't want this information shared with these merchants and exchanges, visit our Do Not Sell or Share My Information page, or simply write to us at: DHC Privacy & Legal Department, 350 Old Silver Springs Rd, Ste 100, Mechanicsburg PA 17050.

  • With Advertising Partners for Targeted Advertising: We may also share Internet and Network Activity Information and Purchase Information with third parties, including Google and Amazon, other analytics companies, data brokers, ad networks, and social media platforms. We share this information with these third parties for marketing purposes, to facilitate the sharing of content and information through social media, and for the targeted advertising and cross-context behavioral advertising purposes and through the tracking tools described in Section 2, above. We also share this information for purposes of data analysis, providing a specific service and determining advertising frequency and effectiveness. Personal information received by these companies may also be subject to their privacy policies. These third parties may share your information with others, use your information for their own marketing purposes, or use it the marketing purposes of others. Some transfers of your personal information to our business partners and other marketers may be viewed as a “sale” under certain state laws. See Section 5, "Your Privacy Rights and Choices," below, and our Do Not Sell or Share My Information page.

  • With Law Enforcement or Emergency Response: We may disclose each category of personal information if we have reason to believe that it is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons or entities who may be causing injury to our customers, to DHC or to others. We may also disclose each category of personal information when we believe the law requires it or to protect ourselves. For example, we will share personal information as required to respond to a court order or subpoena. We may share information if a government agency or investigatory body requests it, or when we are investigating potential fraud.

  • As Part of a Sale or Merger: DHC may also transfer personal information to any successor to all or part of our business or assets. If part of our business is sold, we may give our customer database as part of that transaction, which may include each category of personal information.

We may share personal information for other reasons we may describe to you. We may share de-identified or aggregated data for any purpose, unless prohibited by law.

4. Information Collection and Sources

We collect the categories of personal information described above from the following categories of sources:

We collect personal information directly from you and your devices. We may collect Contact Information, Demographic Information, and Payment Information when you register an account, buy or return a product, sign up for our email newsletter, submit content, or otherwise contact us.

DHC uses pixel tags, tracking tools, and cookies behind the scenes to collect Internet and Network Activity Information. These tools allow us to recognize you when you return to our website and when you use our website, and to collect information about your visit. A cookie is a file stored on your computer or browser by a website to give you a unique ID. A cookie generated by our website contains only an alpha numeric ID that allows you to retrieve certain information on our site. For example, while on our site if you leave your shopping basket to look for other items, the cookie allows for the storage of the selected items in the basket. Cookies help us provide you with the information you need and make it easier for you to use our site. A pixel tag or web beacon is a graphic image or small string of code that enables the transfer of data. Pixel tags can be used for reporting website traffic, whether email was opened, customer preferences, advertising effectiveness and general auditing. We collect this information when you interact with our websites, our ads, and our emails. We collect this information about users over time and across devices. For information on how to control these tools, see the “How do I stop certain tracking tools?” section below.

DHC uses Google Analytics for aggregated, anonymized website traffic analysis. In order to track your session usage, Google drops a cookie (_ga) with a randomly-generated ClientID in your browser. This ID is anonymized and contains no identifiable information like email, phone number, name, etc. We also send Google your IP Address. We use GA to track aggregated website behavior, such as what pages you looked at, for how long, and so on. This information is important to us for improving the user experience and determining site effectiveness.

We get personal information from vendors we hire to work on our behalf. Vendors that host or maintain our websites, help us fulfill purchases, and send emails for us may give us Contact Information and Network and Internet Activity Information. Our marketing agencies and advertising technology vendors may also provide us with Identifiers, Contact Information, Internet and Network Activity Information, Location Information, and Interences.

We combine information about you in a variety of ways. DHC may also combine your personal information with other information or information from other sources in order to improve our marketing programs, send you DHC offers, promotions and other marketing information, better serve our customers as a whole and analyze and evaluate marketing initiatives. Social media platforms may also give us information about you.

We also keep an archived copy of your records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity prior to responding to your requests. The verification steps will vary depending on the sensitivity of the personal information and whether you have an account with us. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. When submitting the request, please ensure the authorized agent is identified as an authorized agent.

You can opt-out of sale / sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising / targeted advertising on our site. You can request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, as well as certain types of “targeted advertising” (as these terms are defined under applicable laws and as described in Sections 3 and 4) on our site. We may “sell” or “share” these categories of personal information to the social media platforms, advertising networks, analytics companies, and ad tech companies described in Section 3 of this Privacy Policy (as permitted by applicable law).

Sharing of Personal Information

We share the categories of personal information described above in the following ways and with the following entities:

  1. With Our Service Providers: DHC uses third parties to handle various parts of transactions due to their expertise, resources and/or infrastructure. We may share each category of personal information with vendors and service providers that help us with things like processing payments, providing online chats, providing analysis and recommendations for marketing campaigns, managing product reviews, sending emails and eblasts or provide other consulting services. Our contracts specify that the contractors must also maintain the security and privacy of your information and use it only for the specific purposes of the contract.
  2. With Business Partners and Other Marketers: We may share your Contact Information and Purchase Information with other merchants and merchant exchanges. Other merchants may, in turn, use this information to send you offers for their products and services. If you don't want this information shared with these merchants and exchanges, simply write to us at: DHC Privacy & Legal Department, 350 Old Silver Springs Rd, Ste 100, Mechanicsburg PA 17050.

We may also share Internet and Network Activity Information and Purchase Information with third parties, including Google and Amazon, and social media platforms for marketing purposes, to facilitate the sharing of items via online social networks, and/or in order to provide you with advertisements and promotional offers on different sites on the Internet. These third parties use cookies and/or pixels to collect aggregate cookie and tracking information so they can show you interest-based advertisements on sites across the internet or present you with options for sharing information about DHC within your online social networks. We also use Internet and Network Activity Information and Purchase Information collected to optimize our marketing efforts based on users’ prior visits to our website and we may obtain reports with respect to aggregate interactions that users have with our ads across the Google Display Network, DoubleClick for Advertisers, or Amazon Advertising Platform in conjunction with users’ activities on our website. DHC uses pixel tags to transfer Internet and Network Activity Information and Purchase Information. This data may be provided to third parties on a confidential basis for purposes of data analysis, providing a specific service and/or determining advertising effectiveness. In connection with receiving marketing services, we allow some of our third party service providers to collect Internet and Network Activity Information and Purchase Information, using technologies outlined below. Those third parties use the information to tailor advertisements to you when you visit other websites or for other general marketing purposes. For more information, see the “How do I stop certain tracking tools?” section below.

Some transfers of your personal information to our business partners and other marketers may be viewed as a “sale” under certain state laws. California residents should review the “Your California Privacy Rights” section and our Do Not Sell My Information page.
  3. With Law Enforcement or Emergency Response: We may disclose each category of personal information if we have reason to believe that it is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons or entities who may be causing injury to our customers, to DHC or to others. We may also disclose each category of personal information when we believe the law requires it or to protect ourselves. For example, we will share personal information as required to respond to a court order or subpoena. We may share information if a government agency or investigatory body requests it, or when we are investigating potential fraud.
  4. As Part of a Sale or Merger: DHC may also transfer personal information to any successor to all or part of our business or assets. If part of our business is sold, we may give our customer database as part of that transaction, which may include each category of personal information.

We may share personal information for other reasons we may describe to you.

Vendors that host or maintain our websites and send emails for us may give us Contact Information and Network and Internet Activity Information. Our marketing agencies and advertising technology vendors may also provide us with Contact Information and Internet and Network Activity Information.

We combine information about you in a variety of ways. DHC may also combine your personal information with other information or information from other sources in order to improve our marketing programs, send you DHC offers, promotions and other marketing information, better serve our customers as a whole and analyze and evaluate marketing initiatives.
