Occupation
Mom to two phenomenal teenagers—plus I'm an artist and a small animal veterinarian.

I feel passionate about
Wildlife. I've given talks to school children about conservation and the value of nature in our lives. When someone mentions the "web of life"—that everything on this earth is interdependent—it's so true, whether we realize it or not.

Since turning 50, I've check off my list
Rockclimbing in Alaska, learning how to snowboard, hosting foreign exchange students, riding in an equestrian barrel race, and climbing Mt. Whitney.

Things still on my list
Learning American Sign Language and Tagalog (my mother's native language), patenting an invention, writing a song, and earning a black belt in a martial art.

Favorite family activity
I love taking part in everyone's passions. My son challenges me to block his latest soccer moves, my daughter records songs and puts them on my iPod, and my husband shows me how to cast a fly rod.

How I recharge
I turn off everything electronic and listen to the breeze rustling the leaves and the hawks overhead.

My greatest achievement
Raising two kids with my husband of 20 years and not regretting a moment.

Where I see myself in 10 years
On a mission trip overseas—helping to build a village or treating a herd of goats.
