Wrinkles, though politely referred to as signs of wisdom and life experience, have long been considered visible proof of age—and always thought to be a hopeless battle against time.

However, improvements in anti-aging care have been so great, and our understanding of the process so improved, that wrinkles are now being seen less as ravages of time and more as consequences of lifestyle and self-care choices. Chances are, you've already had enough sun exposure to ensure you'll look plenty "wise" in the coming years, but there's still a lot you can do to minimize what shows up tomorrow and maximize repair now. Follow DHC's wrinkle reduction plan below to reap the rewards of well-researched skincare science.

1. WEAR SUNSCREEN
A good sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or greater is your best bet for minimizing future wrinkles. If you're not doing this every day, any other anti-aging attempts may be futile. Dual Defense SPF 25 is a rich, sun-guarding moisturizer that can be used on your face and body for UV protection, and it's gentle enough to resist inflaming sensitive complexions.

2. INCORPORATE ANTIOXIDANTS INTO YOUR ROUTINE
Antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E, have been shown to strengthen skin, stimulate collagen production, help neutralize the never-ending barrage of free radicals, and balance abnormal cell production caused by exposure to UV rays and other skin-damagers. Combined, they make a great team; layering a few antioxidant treatments yields even better results than using just one. For a vitamin C treatment, try our new Vitamin C Essence or Antiox C, a fast- absorbing cream. Retino A Essence utilizes vitamins A and E to defend skin against environmental aggressors.

3. EXFOLIATE WITH AHAs
As we age, our turnover process slows, leaving dull, ashen skin cells and irregular texture, which accentuate wrinkles. An AHA treatment helps exfoliate the top layer of the skin, stimulating the process of renewal. Look for one with a concentration of 8% to 10%. Higher concentrations can cause irritation and inflammation and damage skin. With a 10% concentration of lactic acid, Renewing AHA Cream is a milky formula that sweeps skin clean of lifeless cells.

4. KEEP SKIN CLEAN AND MOISTURIZED
A gentle cleanser and a soothing, lightweight moisturizer won’t directly affect wrinkles, but balanced formulas can help skin keep defenses up. (Using products that are too heavy or contain too many irritating ingredients can weaken skin.) DHC has many great products that fit this bill, so find the ones that suit your skin type and start your wrinkle-reducing plan today.
